Decentralisation to Roscommon - Progress to date

1. Name of Location: Roscommon town

2. Organisation transferring and a short description(s) of the organisation and its work

The Property Registration Authority (PRA) was established on 4 November 2006 to manage and control the Land Registry and the Registry of Deeds and to promote and extend the registration of ownership of land.

The core business of the Land Registry involves:

·        examining legal documents and related maps submitted as applications for registration,

·        interpreting the legal effect of such documents and recording their legal impact on the registers(folios) and maps.

3. Numbers and grades of staff transferring

The new decentralised office of the Property Registration Authority (PRA) in Golf Links Road, Roscommon was officially opened on 16 February 2011 and there are currently 82 PRA staff based in the Roscommon office. 

Following the publication of the Government’s decision on Public Service Reform the numbers and grade profile of staff moving to the office will be reviewed.
